Green Bay Fishing Report 9-22-2016

Walleye fishing remains excellent around the Sturgeon Bay area and south with a mixed bag of eater sized walleyes and trophy caliber walleyes. Techniques very from rip jigging rapala ripping raps, moonshine shiver minnows, rapala jigging raps and trolling big crank baits like the berkley flicker minnow #11 has been money for us especially on Larsons reef. When its flat calm out or a small ripple I like jigging the key to jigging is to locate walleyes from my experience over years of trolling has taught me when we would catch walleyes time and time again we found patterns (gps waypoints pinpointing key areas) that walleyes were congregating on tips, edges of humps or sometimes on top of humps don't be afraid to cover water around key humps say on Larsons reef walleyes tend to move a lot so don't get frustrated when you hit a few spots and don't connect keep moving working various humps and reefs looking for active walleyes. Windy conditions for me I like to troll due to better boat control and covering water looking for active fish over key areas depending the area were fishing. Patients and understanding of your boat, tackle, equipment, electronics can make a huge difference in zero fish to catching fish based on fine tuning as the day goes on. Many times the first few hours of a guided trip i completely got my ass handed to me and i would freak out thinking whats going on! but over time I've learned to be patent and make adjustments as the day progressed when fishing is slow improving our odds putting more fish in the boat for my clients. However when the fishing is good or its your day you really can't do much wrong those are the days I really appreciate the fish making us fisherman look like rockstars! I have had a few days off earlier in the week (worked on ice houses getting ready for an epic ice season!) but its back to the grind for me walleyes until the end of September then on to Washington Island October 1st through mid October for fall smallmouth bass fishing. Anyone I mean anyone looking for and awesome experience we have October 5th,10th,12th open for bass fishing otherwise were full.

Were on first ice around Sturgeon Bay Wi area mostly back bays Sturgeon Bay Shipping Channel with about 6 inches of ice! So we're running early ice trips catching perch, pike, burbut, whitefish so its game time boys for some early ice action! We expect for a long season and good winter with bitter cold temps coming in around the first of the year helping with ice making conditions. If you would like to get out this week between Christmas & New Years we will be out guiding!
Call Barbara for booking or more info!

Fishing Report for 5/22/2017

This is Lonney from Green Bay Trophy Fishing.

Walleye bass fishing this last week has been really good! Earlier in the week we caught limits of walleye using number #5 flicker shad and #7 flicker minnows 30 to 50 feet back behind offshore planer boards targeting 7 to 12 feet of water! Water temp dropped 5 to 6° along with muddy stained water with the crazy cold front and wind that came in the last few days!

We fished Sturgeon Bay for bass only a few times this week due to the Sturgeon Bay Bass Open.  Personally, I don't like competing with all the boats so waited til this big bass tournament was over.

Bass fishing should be awesome with tons of males making beds and big females available in transition areas from deep water to beds! Plastics like tubes flukes, hair jigs, swim bait are all working. Rock piles seem to be holding bass.

We filmed the show with Larry Smith Outdoors, showcasing Sturgeon Bay, catching northern pike, bass and walleye. Larry's an awesome guy to fish with! As Larry would say, "It's a great day to be alive!"

Green Bay Trophy Fishing - Fishing Report 5-28-2017

Hey guys Lonney from Green Bay Trophy Fishing boy we been fishing hard this week chasing bass and walleye around Sturgeon Bay and lower Green Bay.
Walleye fishing started out a little slower earlier in the week but we found a few schools of walleye and have been getting limits just about every day casting a jig head and a piece a nightcrawler Rapala ripping raps and of course trolling with planer boards pulling #7 flicker minnows.
Bass around Sturgeon Bay have been biting live bait plastics like tubes paddle tails flukes ned rigs but our go to bait this week has been jerking! Yes Rapala shadow raps and shadow shads have been deadly catching big bass as well! Fishing 7 to 15 feet of water along the Sturgeon Bay flats Sturgeon Bay shipping channel have been good looking for transitional fish between deepwater and bed bedded bass.
Give Barbara call to book your next Green Bay fishing trip we fish hard and just about every day to stay on the latest information!
Thank you
