Made an impromptu trip to Starved Rock for a short Afternoon of fishing . Too nice of a day to pass up doing yard work. Put in at the Launch at about 4pm and fished up around Plum Island and the Rock. Had good luck trolling Deep diver ( 10-12' ) Cranks ( Frenzys) in 7-10' of water bouncing off rocks. Boated 2 decent Sauger ( 14-15"), and one Large Drum in about an hour of fishing. Could have caugt a few more Sauger if we were able to stay longer. A beautiful day to be on the water!!

Nice going, always relaxing to get even a short trip in before the week of work take over.

Do the fish taste good out of the river?

Can't really say as I didn't keep any. I imagine the smaller fish would be OK but maybe someone else out there could give you a more definitive answer.
