It's been a slow summer, lots of work and no fishing. Had to make an early run to Midway this morning, though, so stopped by the river for a couple hours. Trying for pike, but got a nice sauger alongside a logjam with a white/chartreuse spin bait. River is low and slow, but found a bit of flow and with it a bonus smallie, almost black in color. That came on a green craw-colored square bill crank.

I'll take it. Tight lines, folks.

Always nice to see sauger posts. They are elusive or at least seem to be in terms of my attempts and reports as of late. That alone would have made my day but the bonus smallie is good to go. The lyons area has been transformed in terms of results with the dam being removed so seeing that kind of stuff leaves a good feeling to be had. Nice post.
