This site gives a good indication of when it's fishable. For me wading starts when it's less than 9'.

Its all sorts of chocolate milk right now, I agree with the 9' (on that gauge) being the benchmark for better fishing. Water clarity also plays a good part in my fishing success on the DPR.

DPR northern cook county is in fine condition right now. northerns are fairly active on loud baits. largemouth are active as well.

Good to know. Where exactly upstream are you fishing?
The gage site I cited is somewhere around the old damn #2.
