Well my buddy calls and wants to know if I would like to fish Waylon on Saturday with his girl friend. I agreed and got my boat and met up with them at the lake. Boy was it a beautiful day, temps were great and not much of a breeze. So we set out to our usual area and started dragging crawelers. My friend gets a good catfish and the day started. Next was a LM bass, Then I get a bass, then he gets a bass, then I get a nice walleye, Now his girl friend could not get a bite, but was a good net man for us(lol). Then finally she hooks into a walleye also. Great day of fishing, 6 lm bass, 2 walleye and a good catfish. Walleyes went home to meet the grease. All bass were 3 pounds! and the largest was 3.5! Really fun for all, except for the crawlers.

Thanks for the report! Didn't think there were quality fish in there anymore.

It's a fairly large lake, and has a lot of deeper water. Big shad hatches in the summer put a damper on catching fish out of there in the warm months. They're in there thick. So you are usually better off fishing it in spring or late fall up until they close the launch.

Well, im glad to hear they are still in there. I'm planning on taking my fiberglass boat out there this evening and trolling some cranks and flickershads.

Good luck!
The lake fishes similar to Heidecke, IMO. Where it's good to great in spring and fall, and absolute garbage in the summer, for the most part.

I've had my eye on this lake. Is it legal to take a boat with a gas motor on it, but only using the electric trolling motor? It'd be pretty difficult removing my 115 hp to fish the lake.

Just don't start the big motor, even for loading/unloading. Trolling motor only. It's a long, flat launch, so be prepared to get wet up to your knees to load. I believe the launch will be closing sometime in the next couple weeks, also. I want to try and get out there once or twice before it does, though.
