John and I got out from 5:30 till 8:30, water semi low, stained, and temp in the high 60's. My first cast I get a picture fish and it never stopped. We ended up with 33 fish in three hours, John got 17 and I got 16. 7 were rockbass and john got one walleye, and the rest were smally's. That's not counting the ones we missed. Check out the rocky and that was the size of every rocky we caught.

Thanks everyone! It truely was one of the best times spent on that river. Nice post Howard and thanks for posting this!!
I remember one other time we did this well and it was on a Mother's Day over ten years ago. BTW I ended up in the doghouse after that day. Got in big trouble from my Wife the Mother of our children. Til this day she won't let me forget that. Ouch!!

Good Luck and Be Safe,

John

Its good to see the river cycle rebound the last couple years after the bad spawns, cold water floods and heavy silting since 2007 or so.

Actually, the low, clear, very weedy and mossy conditions of the last few summers/fall have helped the bass recover. Lots of bugs, minnows etc for them to eat and ambush in the flowing weeds, moss and willows.

Still not as good as 10-15 years ago, but moving in the right direction.

Great post and pics :gpost

The river still has it's evenings where it turns on. I had an evening a few years back where the smallies turned on during a spring rain, non-stop for about 30 minutes.. literally every cast.

You guys had the multi-species killer outing though! Great job :D

Killer fish guys...those are some healthy looking Kank smallies. I can't say I've ever caught 33 hogs in 2 hours that's for sure! I'm still waiting for that big day on the river like all of you are talking about..But hey, maybe it will be tomorrow!
