Here is a recap of this past week’s fishing.

Area lakes-fishing has been excellent. Now is the time to catch big fish. The average catch rate has been 10 an hour for bass. Work a lipless crankbait along the outside weedlines that are on ledges to deeper water. Crappie have been excellent on weed flats during midday hours. Search for the active schools using a variety of jerk minnows. Best bait has been the Diawa Dr. minnow. Once you locate the active schools it is non-stop.

Husker if the crappie are good at mid day, this Saturday afternoon might be a good time to be on a pond.

Thursday should be an excellent day to be out with the warmup and those south winds blowing.

I thank you for that my friend. Looks like my last trip will be a sauger search on the IL. river with son #2, hope to make it soon. Then it's going to be ice time.
