Happy New Year to everyone. Hope it’s a good season of fishing for everyone.

Here is a recap of this past week’s fishing.

Fall like temps have the long rods making an appearance again. Bass have been decent casting 3 inch Kalin grubs on 1/4 oz jig heads. Key is working it as slow as possible to keep the bait just above the weed tops. Best bite has been early afternoon. White has been the top producer.

Are the weeds browning out now?

Still green and crisp enough for a salad.

I figured the Ill. river is muddied up and was too cold to golf so I hit the ponds at the golf course for bass. After some experimenting I settled on a pre-rigged shad swimbait cranked a foot or so off the bottom and just had a ball.I ended up with about 20 all in the 10-14" range but it was fun feeling those hits.

Nice RT. always a good alternative. The boat is ready myself. Itching at pulling the trigger for the first trip.
In the meantime,
Here’s a recap of this past week’s fishing.
Area lakes- break out the long rods as the open water season has started. Bass were hitting chatterbaits with a larger grub trailer. Best bite was midday slow rolling over the top of weeds.

I had a couple chunkers like that Husker,I just couldn't believe they were that aggressive just a week or so after the ice was gone.I'll have to stop at the Connection and get a couple chatter baits.

It doesn’t take much to ignite a reaction bite despite the cold water temps. Get that surface temp up a few degrees on a sunny day and it’s on.

Go see my buddy Greg. He’ll set you up for local waters.
