Spent about 5 hours fishing the Fox, hit some deep water, shallow wood, mid depth... couldn't swing a multi-fish night, but did manage a new best for the season. Bluegill for bait in shallow wood cover. Nice fight too!

(...wasn't cold out there, I was bundled up because I forgot bug spray! :doh )

I'll bet that was an epic battle in the dark. Adrenaline running while netting her?

Sorry, thought I had answered... was fishing above St. Charles (pretty much focused on the one pool this season, thinking next year I'll hit some different areas on the Fox).

Nice fish. I have caught a few good ones above st charles in the past but its been a few years since ive tried. Question, I am just assuming you launch at boy scout island but maybe im wrong. Do you know if they allow you to launch all night long there? I know its a park district thing so I thought maybe it closed after dark. I have been focusing more in Elgin the last few years since its free and closer to my house, but I would like to give St. Charles a shot one day soon as my sister just bought a house right there.

Hey karl, I have launched a couple of times from Boy Scout Island past 10 p.m. this summer, it has always been open, never any problems. Not sure after Labor Day what's going to happen with the gate situation. We did okay out there this year nothing huge lots of small channel cats, few northern, couple small mouth just a good species mix. Will probably be out there Saturday night or Sunday night still looking for that elusive walleye I will be in a 14 foot smokercraft probably with my brother if you ever see us stop and say hey.

Cool thanks for the info! It would be pretty awesome to catch walleye consistently from the river. I have only caught them in the spring and fall under the dams. I am going to give it a better effort this fall to see if I can figure out something different. There is a chance I will be out on Sunday and will say hi if I see you.
