Saw in the Northwest Herald today that a muskie estimated at 50" was caught and released just below the Algonquin Dam by a shore angler.

Yeah that was quite the specimen. A monster anywhere but a total freak of nature around here.

Before I moved away from Bartlett, my neighbor's kid always fished the fox from South Elgin to Batavia, and regularly caught muskies in the mid 40's.

I didn't hear him talk much about the St Charles area, but my brother used to live two blocks off the Fox near Red Gate road and he caught a few smaller ones in that area. The areas my neighbor's kid mostly talked about was below the South Elgin Dam and below the Batavia dam.

The Fox river between the Kimball St bridge in Elgin and the dam in Algonquin at Rt 62 is not heavily fished at all. There should be a lot of large fish in that stretch of water.
