I have been hitting the west side for a few hours in the evening, from the animal clinic to Dorothea Weigand park. The river is low and clear and the aquatic grass is everywhere. The river has a green carpet floating in/on it. I have been getting only small smallmouth lying in pools and in the riffle areas and have had no bites in the larger slow moving water which seems to be owned by the carp. I have been using a wooly bugger and, again, my 3wt fly rod.
The only interest that happened is my hearing a noise which sounded like somebody blowing their nose really hard. I turned around and there was this deer running along the bank sort of bleating as it ran. Maybe I was so still from all the inaction that I startled it when I moved.
I am going to need a change of scenery although I met another fly fisher, Sunday, at Knoch Knolls who was fishing downstream of that park. Same result per his narrative; small smallmouths if any.
