Fished the east branch this morning for the first time. What a riot. I haven't fished running water much since moving to the midwest, apart from fall steelhead and salmon while visiting the folks back west.

Water is high but looking pretty good; 18" to 24" visibilty. The only action was on white grubs and light jig heads in the slowest water I could find, between 1 and 3 feet deep.

Basically, I got schooled. I was able to turn over 5 fish, but couldn't get good hook set on any of them. Short striking was the main problem: the shank on the only light jigs I packed were too short. Won't make that mistake again.

Tight lines and dry socks, everybody.
