Well with help from all today was successful. I got enough information to make our morning a success and I even learned a few things. Here's the report

I just cleaned 38. Anywhere from 9 to 11 inches. Between the three of us we killed it. We caught fish after fish. and even some doubles. Minnows on a drop shot or a crappie rig worked great. We got there at 6 am . Started catching fish right away but fishing was better after it got light.
We were fishing under the michigan Ave bridge. This is where we did good until they closed the riverwalk from there to LSD. For construction. Typical chicago start work the Friday before Christmas. We then fished from where the fence was by the bridge to right across from trump's tower. 'Merica. Better fishing was closer to michigan Ave. Also we parked at 111 e wacker used spot here. 15 bucks. People did look at is weird as we walked out of the shopping center lol.... hopefully this helps. Anyone have any questions just ask. This was a memory I will cherish forever. It was Myself my dad. And my 83 year old grandfather. Here's the Facebook link

Great to hear a good report. Three generations having great fishing together - can't beat that.
Another nice thing about the Chicago River walk is they are well lit and you don't need a flashlight even before the day break.
Are they closing the section between Michigan Av. and LSD for an extended period? I think that is the best section for winter perch. Maybe someone can try the north bank?

Hi. Was the parking outside or in the building? How do you get from the parking to the river? Thanks.

Parking was inside. We walked out through the building. Juat remember where you exited cause that's where you go back in And it was literally just across the street and down the steps. Real close

I found there are many parking garages that offer early bird special drive-up rates M-F Typically if you enter before 7:00 am and exit before 7:00 pm, the fee is around $12.00. But some require you stay till 3:00 pm to get the special rate. I think Sheraton's early bird require you to stay minimum 5 hours (go figure).
If you are willing to walk, it's about 30 minutes walk from Navy Pier E garage.

Thanks. From Google I don't see a parking entrance on Upper Wacker at 111 except maybe and area that is closed but it's an old picture. Pretty sure I'll make the trip in the a.m.

I am launching at Western Ave Wednesday morning. Grey Smoker Craft along with friend with blue Tracker. Starting at State St bridge and heading east. Give us yell and we'll give you a report. Last decent day for a long time.

"Fished" north side of river under Columbus bridge from 11-4. Almost all dinks, few and far between.
Only 7-8".

Biting totally stopped around 4. Minnows, shrimp working. Minnows better, later. Squid not working.

Others went as far as Wabash and caught minimal to zilch.

Another fished Pier upwards to Columbus bridge early and caught next to nothing.

Ho.....Ho.....Hoooooo

Daley Park 33 & Western. $27 launch fee. 45 min run to State St bridge-lot of no wake zones. Excellent place, but slope ramp-bring high top rubber boots. Has active police camera monitor. Have had no problems.
