I'm thinking about heading out to White Pines State Park near Oregon this weekend - it's one of the C&R fly fishing only spots for the trout stocking

Has anyone ever been there? Any tips about the place?

The pictures look nice and it looks like there's plenty of room for casting from shore or wading.

I've fished there for trout before. It's a great little spot! I actually caught so many that I switched to barbless hooks to make things a little more fun. We had our best luck in a deep pool that was right up against a bluff.

Resurrecting an old thread here, as I felt it better than starting a new one. I started conventional fishing in June of 2018, and decided this Spring I want to learn to fly fish. I have a 7'6 3WT and a 9' 6WT to start. I used to camp every year at White Pines and decided to get into fly fishing specifically to wade the creek/stream that flows through the park. I got the 3WT for this purpose, and can't wait to get there and catch a rainbow.

Any tips or advice for such a novice? In general, or certainly specific to White Pines?

What are good flies to tie on?

Thanks!

Thank you! I actually got one in a "Trout Pack" from Cabela's. I'll give that a go!
