The carp in the Fox have been outsmarting me lately so I decided to hit up a local pond with my 5 wt to see if I could do any better there. It took a little while to figure out what they wanted to eat, and ended up scaling way down on the size of the fly.

Managed one before it got dark (and before all the geese showed up and ruined everything!). It wasn't huge but it was a good fight. I dropped this nymph about a foot in front of his nose and he shot to it before it had time to sink.

The're a few more carp there that look HUGE, so I will definitely go back.

You did good! I need to try a small bead head like you did. I have always had the carp look at my offering and shrug it off looking like they could tell how much I paid for it. What size leader and tippett are you using?
