The river is finally back down to a safe wadeable depth! I got out to Geneva on Wed eve and picked up a nice walleye on a Backstabber. Looked to be around 17" - definitely a good eating size. Another guy was wet wading with a fly rod caught at least one that I saw - looked like that was also a walleye from the way he was handling it.

Went to South Elgin yesterday - missed the hookset on a carp. Nothing else.

Still great to be back out wading the river though!!

My daughter's mom moved to South Elgin recently. I'm out there a few times a week . Definitely want to get a line out on the river . What type of fish are abundant in that area of the Fox?

South Elgin has a bunch of smallmouth, gills, crappie, white bass , cat , carp and walleye plus depending on the time of year pike and musky. Below the dam gets fished pretty heavy but it's still a good fishery .
