pricey, yes, but i wish i had done it differently looking back. dont go big or go home. i do recommend getting a decent starter kit like pryal suggests. that would be ur best bet. talk to some of the guys at chifly. they will give you some info on getting started.

No offense intended, finding a great fly shop around Chicago is easy. Finding one that isn't pricy..... There are several shops I like. My all time ( great rod building resource too) favorite!!!

I have found the Orvis shop in Yorktown and the local BassPro shop to fill my needs. Besides, Orvis sends a post card, now and then, which is a $25 off on $50 or more. Other than these 2 sources, I have used the internet and found bargain flies.

Bought a trout net from Bass Pro, yesterday, for $4.99. Not a bad net for the price. They have some of the Temple Fork fly rods on sale.
