Caught this guy the other evening on the Fox in South Elgin. I figured 12-14 lbs. For reference, from the butt end of this rod to the front of the cork is 13".

I had only managed one little Smallie for the night, chased a bunch of tailing carp and lost a couple of flies. I caught this guy as I was leaving, casting as I was walking to shore. He took me into my backing pretty quick and made a few more solid runs before he tired out. Back swimming to get bigger.

What a brute. I posted, in the DuPage section, that I watched a big carp inhale my Boogle Bug popper (black) and just manhandle my 3wt fly rod. After so many minutes, it just lunged downriver quickly snapping the 3X tippett. A $4 popper but worth the excitement.
