Looking into my first public land hunt and was interested in planning a 5 day trip in Shawnee nation forest during archery season. Any tips or experiences you've had would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Just like any public property you want to go where others are not. It’s a huge piece of land in which I’ve never stepped foot on so I can’t help too much. Why did you choose Shawnee?

Here are the main reasons I chose Shawnee:
-Sheer beauty of the landscape will help if I get skunked
-Larger population of deer per mile according to the interwebs
-No daily sign-ins necessary
-Larger piece of land makes me think it would be less pressured or at least there would be many areas most would be unwilling to hike in that would be less pressured
- I have the ability to work from home for a couple days before doing any physical scouting in the woods. So I plan on driving around e-scouting and spending time glassing before/after work in my truck to get a better lay of the land. These extra days is why i am more willing to drive far south.

If you don't already have it, I highly recommend the onX Hunt app.
