This is the earliest I have ever filled a tag so I’m not sure what I’m going to do for a while. I was out in the evening hunting by a bunch of oak trees where there are a ton of acorns. I saw a nice 120 inch 8 pointer but I let him walk because I knew there were at least 4 bigger bucks. With about 15 minutes left I had 2 small 8 pointers and a spike within 15 yards when a big buck stepped out behind me. I wasn’t exactly sure how big he was but I knew he was a shooter.

My 35 yard shot was a little high but I hit the femoral artery and he was dead 150 yards away. This might be my biggest buck to date. When I get the rack back I’ll score him to find out. I’ve tried to upload the picture from my phone but it will not load. I’ll try to mess around later to see if it will load.

What I thought was interesting was there was very little to no blood to trail. I was lucky enough to just walk and see him laying dead in the field. The hit entered high just beneath the spine and lodged about 6 inches lower just barely penetrating the other side. The arrow did break off inside of him.
