Shot my doe 1 Oct. In tree stand at at 4 got her at 6:10. Concentrated on Goose hunting which payed off as it's been a great season. Did want to get out during the rut so I started going the last couple evenings. Passed on a doe with a yearling twice. Had her at 10yds. Got in my stand this afternoon (2). Set up my climber in same tree I took the doe earlier. At 3:20 I look and her comes a beautiful 10 point. All I could see was rack. What a deer. He ambles in slowly just sniffing. I'm shaking. 15yds from my stand is a scrape. he finally turns and heads there. I got him broadside at 15yds. Shoot. Clean miss. I shot under him. I'm sick. Got down and picked up my arrow. No blood. Nothing. I decided to just get back up in my climber and finish the hunt from the same tree.

At 4:30 two does (big and small) come running by. Buddy told me to always be ready as the buck will come soon. 10 min later i hear deer coming. I can see a rack on lead deer. Had one opening he would come through at 20 yds. Steps in opening. Release. Whack. Pass through right behind front leg. He ran 40 yds, stopped and fell over. Done. Figures, I clean miss the easy shot and totally nail the tough one.

My first buck. A 5 point. He's a trophy to me. Thanks for all your posts that I can glean from. Now I' really back to goose hunting. Although this week there going to alot of Jerky cooking :D .
