Getting ready to plan our ice fishing trip for next season. Last year we did the sturgeon bay white fish bite and that was somewhat of a bust. Taking suggestions for this year.

Less than 6 hour drive is ideal. Possible place we can stay on the ice in a sleeper shack. A connected bar to resort or place near by

Most importantly looking for more fishing action.

Any suggestions??

There is some mighty fine fishing on this lake. We stayed at a cheap hotel nearby and brought our own refreshments. Was a wonderful trip and still talked about today.

Lake Onalaska on the Mississippi River. Easy fishing. Hire a guide for backwater action for a day too. Don't need a guide on the lake. No lodge but good, clean motels and restaurants.

If you're looking for a guided trip, I highly recommend "Hooked Up Sport Fishing" for whitefish
on Sturgeon Bay. Dean is a great guide and is also a paramedic for the local FD. His shacks
hold up to 6 people and safety first is his primary concern. In other words, he's not going to
take you out just because you're there. We've been going up there for the last five years &
have always come home with fish. Another guide service for Lake Onalaska off the Mississippi
River is "Lazy River Guide Service" by Capt Mario. I believe he takes you out to a spot with an
airboat, not an ATV. Lazy River goes ice fishing for panfish, crappie and blue gills and maybe a
few others. Best of luck and Tight Lines.

Oshkosh has a lot of opportunity and a lot of variety of fish. We typically stay at the Best Western http://oshkoshwaterfronthotel.com/?pk_campaign=bwoshkosh&pk_kwd=redirect

Plenty of room, attached bar/restaurant, and a multi story parking garage which is nice to keep snowfall off.

You can fish Winnebago, Butte Des Morts, or Poygan. Plenty of places to eat/drink, many within walking distance.

If you want to go out with a guide call Matt Merten https://www.badgersportsmanoutdoors.com/home.html He has a heated trailer he pulls out and moves around, it will completely spoil you on ice fishing. Also no one know this chain better, or has their finger on the pulse of what is happening at the moment better than Matt.

You can time your trip around the sturgeon season which is pretty cool to see, or fish the Battle on the Bago. Or work around these times for a quieter time.

There are a lot of iconic places to visit there.
