Went out today to see what happened with all the snow,Hermanns was all plowed out and it looked like alot of snowmobile traffic to knock down the snow.I parked way around on the far end,I've gotten permission to park from those people last week and won't have that long walk anymore. As far as conditions there was a walkable crust early but as it warmed I started punching thru about 4-6" of slush,if there was shiny clean ice that was OK.The fishing was the same as the past couple weeks lots of gills to pick thru got my first 9"er today, kept around 20 for dinner friday.Just saw maybe 3 crappie all morning and weren't very big, lost a jig to a decent sized bass.

What kind of shape was the ice? Thinking of heading up that way to fish with son #1 this weekend.

Other than the slush the ice was fine about 9-10".With the warmup you might have to get in off the dock at Hermanns if the shore ice weakens. They do have the fishing derby on sunday which as far as I know is still on.

How’s the ice at Nielsons? Want to take my son ice chasing one last time. Can you still access the ice from the pier?

Being a backwater of a river it might be open past the dock.

The fox river is around 1.5-2' above the level it was at when frozen a week ago. Taking that into account, I'd say no it is not good, and I'd be willing to bet it's open water or at least very bad ice with 1.5' of water over it.
