GOING BACK TOGETHER ALMOST READY FOR TRANSOM CAP
Very important to match top edge to the top of aluminum we rough cut it first then trace with router then sand to match the wood up with the metal exactly OR the slightest bump by any thing heavier than a fishing pole will bend and disturb the sealing we are going to put under cap the direct contact with the wood is the only real strength the transom has to resist dents and dings 4 coats of west system epoxy seals it up to make it live a lot longer than the original and it is only 2 pieces of wood laminated together with epoxy not a Buch of pieces plywood stappled together like what we took out

With no visual signs how can you check a transom?
Years ago a boat salesman taught me this-
If it is on a trailer,
Loosen the Bow hook slightly.
Raise the outboard about 1/2 way.
Grab the engine cowling and place both feet on the skeg.
Hang on tight and rock that engine,if the transom is solid, you should not see any flex in the transom.
I have been doing this test on my boat every year to avoid a more costly situation-
