seems this year is the year to buy a boat that has a lien on the title

guys pay good money and receive a signed title for boat but when they go to register the boat they soon find out their is a lean on the title and they don't actually own the boat until lean is satisfied

just a heads up not really certain how this can be avoided but the bill of sale at least should state clear title with no liens This willl give you some sort of recourse if this issue shows up later
and always register receive clear title (get title back from state) before doing a bunch of work to a boat that was purchased as a project

seems this happens more and more often these days

liens can be from
taxes not paid
mechanical work preformed and not paid in full
divorce settlements
estate settlements
and other i have not yet hear about

i am not a law specialist dotn profess to know much about this technically
just hope to help others avoid potential pitfall
