Lets not forget about the date on our flares
you can possibly get a fine for 350.00 plus you will have to buy new flares as well

a new set of flares should be dated jan. 2018

Thanks for the reminder Frank, what should be done with the old ones? What is the cost of the handheld ones?

Here's an idea, I've heard of this done before. All the old flares were collected and and group held an event to light them off to get rid of them, good practice and experience in case you ever need to use one. Obviously in cooperation with uscg or local authorities. Also you could ask at your local Fire department.

DNR was out heavy at Waukegan Yesterday.... New Young officer with something to prove I think..LOL

He checked over my boat...Make sure you're battery covers on the positive terminals are in place. He almost gave me a 120.00 fine because one of mine was not in the right position. Check ur fire extinguishers and make sure you have you're throw able flotation device and life jackets...

I had 2 Browns in the live well and he asked where my Trout stamp was...LOL I told him that was for Inland Trout...He had to double check....

Why waste old flares. They still work. Keep them onboard, you never know if you might need more than three or if you need to use one, use the old one first.
