Just wanted to share a cople tip to keep anglers with radar safe
This year seems to have given up more fog than I have ever seen in one year before
This has generated a lot of interest and questions regarding radar and how to use it

Lot of guys have radar and don't realize how to get the most out of it for fog navigation
So thought THI would be a good time to post a couple tips on how to get the most out of this investment

#1
Zoom the range all the way in most radar units will go down to 1/8 mile
This will give you the best quality and definition if you have a auto gain feature tak it off auto turn up the gain until you see clutter than turn it down just a bit until the clutter goes way
#2 always proceed at a safe speed never exceed a safe speed remember just because you can see other boats don't men they can see you
If some one get close start sounding the horn
Radar installation should be tuned on water to match the surface angle at a safe heavy fog speed
It's great to see when the boats up on plane but much more important to see when you must go slow in heavy for
A installer can only guess what angle to mount the dome the operators need to confirm the angle of the dome matches the the surface angle at the angle of the bot when navigating dangerous conditions

Be safe out there the fun is over when some one gets hurt
Don't go out in the fog if you don't have radar
If you do have radar practice with it on clear days so you can get the most out of it when you get hit with the fog

X2. THis is SO IMPORTANT so you can understand what you are seeing and identify what objects look like on the radar.
