FAQ; my oil is cloudy in my TR-1 revisour How important is it to change
Calumet marine sells and sevices a huge amount of these auto pilots
Two things are supper important to keep them running rite performing the way they should and saving you money along the way drastically extending the life of wearable components
#1 by far is proper installation tuning and calibration
NOTE if a tr1 I's constantly flopping back and forth on the back of the boat from lock to lock
IT IS NOT INSTALLED AND OR TUNED PROPERLY!
YOU WILL HAVE COMPONENT FAILURES!
#-2 the special oil for these units should never be substituted with any thing else and when oil becomes cloudy or annually should be changed
From about any drug store you can get a large childrens medicine serringe and a 4-5" piece of tubing and suck the couple ounces of fluid out of the revisour and just replace it with fresh clean oil
No need to flush the rest of the system unless the oild is really bad the idea is to stop it from ever getting that way and greatly extend the life of the pump assembly
Calumet marine has all these components in stock
Although not currently stated in the owners manual
From our vast experience with these units it seems to greatly extend the trouble free operation of this system

When it's working it's great. Water got in the oil if it's cloudy. Happened to mine. The reservoir cap came off. Never worked after that.
