Fished on Lake of Egypt this past week and the crappie bite was fantastic. Looking forward to going back after the holidays as the bite should improve even more.

Nice fish. I was out Sunday with a buddy and we caught a few but nothing like our other buddy did on Saturday. Talked to one of the guides on the lake and he said it was a lot slower than what it had been. We ended up getting into some schooling fish and had a blast catching bass and catfish on crappie gear. Can't beat this weather we've been having.

Could you share the names of any guides you know in the area? I'm hoping to take my boys fishing somewhere in the next couple weeks and Southern Illinois might fit the bill.

Thanks!

Sean Hawkins is a crappie only guide on Egypt. You can find him on Facebook. He's friends with my buddies that live on the lake.

Kyle Schoenherr is one of the better crappie guides down here. He fishes Rend, Kinkaid, and Egypt. He's also won some national crappie tournaments.

I don't have any experience with either, but either of those two would probably get my business.

Dr., thanks for posting the picture, I'm having problems posting pics on this site for whatever reason. Those were caught in 1 1/2 hours on Monday morning before I made my way back home. Looking forward to heading back south after the 1st of the year.

There is a bait shop right by the dam on Lake of Egypt that's called "Just Add Water", I believe the young man that owns the shop is a crappie guide on the lake. I think his name is Adam. They had a great fish fry while I was there.

Looking forward to heading back down there in the next week. Lots of rain hit there earlier this week and the lake is very high, hope this doesn't hurt the fishing.
