Spent a shortened week up north with the fam in Boulder Junction, WI. Obviously slipped in some fishing when possible. A highly-recommended destination for any outdoors person. Got some under water footage with my Aqua-Vu as well, including a 19" smallie harassing a rock bass I had on the end of my line:

The facility we stay at is breath taking.

Spent some time on the Manitowish River. Only got a small pike to hand and lost a couple more that looked like smallmouths. This little river has promise, is beautiful, and I will be back.

The north woods abound with wild life in summer.

Bad shot but that's a white deer:

This little dude will be well stocked for the winter:

These baby ducks were unbelievably friendly. Unfortunately for them, I think they lost their healthy flight instinct because what started out as five baby ducks early in the week ended up as four by the time we left.

Spent some time on the pontoon and kayak.

Bass fishing was the best with some 14"-15" walleyes and a couple of unsolicited muskie sightings.

Good guess! It was primarily Big Crooked Lake just due west of Fishtrap. We got some premium cuts from butchers and grilled a lot, ate at the lodge on the property (I had the walleye), and grabbed meals at a couple of establishments in Boulder Junction. Lots of good eats!

Always appreciate the time you take to make your post. Your pictures make you feel like your there with you.

The simple enjoyment of a frog, tells me how much you love the outdoors.

You truly are an asset to this site.

Thank for sharing.

That video was interesting, were those weeds towards the end white?

I agree with Tom regarding your posts. Glad you had such a great time. When watching Wisconsin Woods and Waters, John Gellspie (sp?) often goes to Vilas County.

Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed! Not actually sure about the weeds WSJ. That's actually pretty deep water and fairly murky. Sometimes colorations get distorted.

:thanks all! I liked that one too choup. That lake is really clear. You can see big smallies cruising the break line right in front of the pier as it drops from 3' - 14'.

Thanks for sharing... Very cool! I'm headed up to Eagle River in two weeks. Haven't been up north in two years! Can't wait! $390 at Bass Pro today... damn that place!

I agree with BPS Comments. I learned a long time ago to pay a few $$ more and get most of your stuff up north. They only stock what catches fish and you get good information and you don't waste half your BPS bil on junk. BPS has its value if you are buying plastics or swimbait jigs that you might not find in the northwoods.

Very good point... VERY good point. Can't count how many times that's happened to me. A lot of times that works. But I also have quite a few "can't miss" northwoods baits that didn't catch sh#t up there, and certainly won't here.

They always seem to figure out what I have then sell me the opposite??? LOL...

I've been taken in a few "up north" tackle shops, and have also been given some legit tips. Bottom line is go up there with your confidence baits, and supplement with the latest bait shop stuff.

Most of my bill was updating my a-hole brother in laws boat that I'm taking... He had no dock lines, no bumpers, no youth life jackets, no 2 cycle oil, no whistle, no light, etc....
