Has anyone been catching any Coho from shore yet? It seems the seasons can start as early as mid-February, so I might try a local discharge this weekend. Will report if it do.

Saw a report a few weeks back during the warm spell that they were catching from boat but right along the wall at Oak Creek power plant. Doubt if it is accessible but I do not know the area.

Likely no coho action until shore temps are warmer than mid-lake. Right now, they're about 5 degrees off. But I imagine there are still a few browns and steel cruising the harbors.

Spent almost 2 hours casting big and little spoons from the breakwall at Hammond Marina early this afternoon. Nothing to show for it. Some boats were out but didn't get close enough to them to ask how they did. Temp dropped and the wind kicked up noticeably about 2 pm.

Anyone have an update on the Burns Ditch situation?

That is where I think you will see some reports from soon. Discharges in the Ditch, Bailey discharge, trolling the mouth of the Ditch, Gary Light discharge.....

Port of Indiana is a great spot for shore anglers at this time of the year too.

Northeast winds are supposed to return Wednesday night, which will most likely move the ice pack in one more time on the south end. On the east side of the Lake, north of South Haven, there is still a pretty good ice pack.

Still a little early. A few lucky folks have hooked into some, but the water temps aren't quite there yet.

This weekend i spent about 5 hours over 2 days and brought in 5 coho, 10 browns, many smallmouths. Saturday was brutal with the wind, but Sunday was very nice and relaxing - fishing port of indiana discharge from shore

they are in, but i agree the action will get better over the next few weeks as water temp increases.

Went to my favorite discharge in Burns Harbor again yesterday. We finally had some decent weather and wind combination that made for a very pleasant few hours. I think someone forgot to let the fish know I'd be there though - at least the salmon. I fear the coho may have departed the shore line until next year. I did catch so many small mouth bass that I now have a callus on my finger. I also caught a couple shad and a monster carp that had me worried that he would spool me.

Looks like I'll have to switch gears now that the salmon are out. Maybe I'll start another post about that.

Took a walk 4/8 about 11am from oak street to Belmont. Several fishermen out power-lining. Some had one many none. Best was a man with 3. All on fat heads. 4/10 planetarium 4pm. Found 2 men out. One going home with limit other had 3, again on fat heads. Couldn’t get anything going casting spoons.
