Heidecke is a fishing/hunting only lake. If you are going to be out to test run a boat i recommend you head to the river. There will be plant of other boaters out tomorrow that could give you a hand if you find yourself in trouble. This time of year, Heidecke gets pretty lonely.

No kidding? I had a great July out there but after chasing salmon fir the last month or so, I haven't heard anything good. I'm guessing its the holiday that has the people out and not good reports, because I know I haven't heard any.

There are fish to be had, just hard to put something together with all the bait in the system. Just normal holiday traffic on the lake.

How is the water level??? Been waiting to hear if I can make it under the bridge? I have a windshield and the last two times in May and June had to fish the south side with limited success.

I can confirm Oct 4th, too. I was there yesterday as well. There is a handwritten sign posted near the shore fishing entrance with this date. Lots of shad so the bass were not interested in my bait. Hopefully, it cools down a bit before the closing date. I'd like to get out there a few more times before I climb my tree stands!

It is good that they finally put up the information on a sign. This happens just about every year. Then Oct 4th it is.

The lake closes 10 days fefore waterfowl opener. Has every year for as long as I remember.

I managed to get out yesterday for a few hours mid day and missed th e bite. A friend did pretty well on wipers early and my boat only managed one over 20". Did catch a nice smallie near the discharge on the north end.
