Finished my fishing of Heidecke today with my wife.

It had been several years since I fished this lake but we did really well when we went out. Started the end of June and probably made it out 6 or 7 times. Mostly walleyes but lots of crappies in June.

this was by far my best year at H. Lots of 14" walleye and a few keepers. Crappie were caught on minnows, trolling and plastics. Got a real nice catfish, but never did get into any stripers/wipers. Will be back at it again in the spring.

The 14” to 15” walleyes were plentiful. Largest this year was 22” with several 17”-19” the last few trips recently.

Did you troll?

Good to hear a strong class of 14"-15" - I think I went out there once this year so maybe get back to spending more time out there next year, unless its a zoo again :)

Spent a lot of days on H this year and will say the release e was down from years past. Even bigger bass boats got to other side if they wanted. Caught several Walleyes early spring / summer then it was Bass time. From June’s Largemouth to October Smallmouth the Bass fishing was great. I also boated 3 solid stipers my son’s the biggest at 6 lb and a thrill off a surface lure. If u like the hard fighting smallmouth and are good about catch and release then this lake works. Arrive at sunrise and fish the mornings until 11 am. I live for fishing H and can’t wait to get back to a full year next year. Again if you’re fishing for Bass just take a pic or 2 then release those Bass to the lake. Saw many of you this year and look forward to next year after Mayor A Great Lake!!

That’s what I hear.

I was flying a small plane a couple of month ago and took some photos of the lock work at starved rock. It looked really low then.

I’ll launch at Hennepin when I go.
