It was opened unannounced yesterday, Dale Bowman was shocked as well in his write up in the Sun Times. My son said the lots were near full yesterday.

I feel like they added Goose Lake at the last minute and wasn't part of the original announcement. Heidecke is part of Goose Lake so sorry for the incorrect info, I really did think it was going to remain closed.

Yes its open

You could almost get under the bridge with a sail boat. Definitely the lowest I have seen it in a long time.

As for the fishing it was about what I would expect for this time of the year. Got a dozen walleyes 10 of them were 15 3/4" and 2 were over the line, a dozen crappies up to 14", and some really decent smallies. The biggest surprise of the trip was probably the 4 short muskies we got. I have never gotten shorts like that before which means they must have done a stocking recently. I hope that doesn't throw off the population structure of the other fish in the lake.

I am sure the fishing will get better in the next couple of weeks. Just glad that the powers that be decided to let this one open back up.

Definitely open....bring your patience at the ramp because its packed. Yesterday was a slow, but I think it was this front coming, but its been fishing pretty good. We did manage a 20" eye and few smallies.

A little tip because I watched at least 3 guys hit going out of the ramp into the lake. Stay to the right of the channel near the lake side breakwall and trim up! The mouth of the marina is shallow!!! I really dont know how the guy in the 22ft Trophy Cuddy cabin I/O got in and out....and yes I said 22ft Cuddy Cabin....on Heidecke :shock

The lake is as crowded as I have ever seen. Weekdays look like weekends and I can only imagine what the weekend looks like but I will not even try going there on a weekend. I was there last Friday at 4:30pm and I had to wait a few minutes to launch the boat because of the amount of people there.

As for a report a few white bass and smallmouth in 2 hours of fishing.

The parking lot was beyond full yesterday at noon. Fishing was a shade slow. We caught 6 crappie and 4 bass.

Any updates from the past 2 days? I’ve only been there once after moving to the area last year and didn’t have much luck...plan on trolling structure on the S side as I know I can’t get my deep V to the N side.

More looking to run the boat so curious how much of a zoo it’s been, probably head out tomorrow afternoon hoping some of the boat traffic will have died down.

From what I've heard, it's a zoo no matter the day right now, and I've also heard it's super low, so you'll prolly get under to the north side if you choose.
