Come join us for the next club tournament, Saturday July 23rd.

We will begin checking in boats at 4:00 A.M. On channel 68, tournament boat is Lor E Lou.

Run time is 4:30 with lines in the water at 5:00. Your boat must be back in the harbor by 12:00 P.M.

Johnny Lazarrich is barbequing during the weigh in. You must have your cooler in line by 12:45 at the latest.

See you there.

What's the status on the bonus fish category? We've had coho and kings so far and none can be used more than 2x. Are all five still a possibility for this tournament or are we down to only steelie, browns and lakers left until all three are used? If it happens to turn out lakers, can we still only weigh 4?

Thanks,

Dale

Well I'm not the chairman in charge, but as I understand the rules no target fish can be picked more than twice. Nothing in rules as I understand keeps a fish from being picked twice or twice in a row before all others have been picked once.

You are weighing a 2 man limit, so target species or not, you can only weigh 4 Lakers. Laker as a target species is new for this year, but with the quality of silver fish this year, I'm hoping nobody picks them as target species...

Lots of fun, once again. Tough fishing conditions yesterday, with that thick fog. The food Johnny Lazzarich cooked up was some of the best I've had at a tourney. Thanks Johnny, and thanks to all that make these tourneys happen!

Congrats to Green Machine...That was a sweet box you guys put together yesterday!

The July 23rd club tournament was held in the foggiest conditions of the year so far, but the fishing was excellent. 10 boats scored over 200 points and 4 boats, including the winner had grand slams. 16 boats had 10 fish limits. The 21 boats that entered brought 190 fish to the scales and the target fish, Rainbow Trout, had 103 caught and weighed. Once again, the doom and gloom rhetoric surrounding the fishery was shown to be much too pessimistic on our side of the lake. Both Friday and Saturday saw some of the best steelhead fishing in years.

1st Place - Greenmachine, Captain John Straus, 90.1 LBS with a grand slam, 280.1 Pts. - $105

2nd Place - Grey Lion II, Captain Jim Nelligan, 66.3 LBS with a grand slam, 256.3 PTS. - $63

3rd Place - Doin Fine, Captain Norb Piorek, 52.7 LBS with a grand slam, 242.7 PTS. - $42

Big Fish of Tournament - 21.4 LB King Salmon, Greenmachine, Captain John Straus - $210.00

Big 3 Winner, (Sponsored by: James P. Maechtle Decorating, Advanced Automotive of Palatine, Duck Bill Charters and Thermalcraft Inc.)
Blind Squirrel, 50 LBS. Captain Don Schreiner - $250

Big Target Fish: 16.3 LB Rainbow Trout, Greenmachine, Captain John Straus $84

Top Rookie Boat: Herb's Brother, Captain Mark Vogt

Johnny Lazarich made Italian sausage with red sauce, peppers and onions and Italian beef sandwiches and a wonderful pasta salad, how good was that boys and girls? Thanks again Johnny, I was 150 lbs before you started cooking for us. :) Well, maybe not.

Since a 63 ft boat ran into the rocks outside the harbor in the fog on Saturday, I thank God all of us got back in safely. That's a tribute to all of the captains skill. Phew!

Next club tournament is August 13th, see y'all there. Johnny is making pulled pork sandwiches.

Jim

Thanks Tyee - we had alot of fun and were lucky enough to put together one of the best boxes we've had in a long time. We were super excited that it happened on a tournament day. What are the chances for that!

Great food and camaraderie! Always a blast.

I bet you loved posting those results John. Yes, nice box! Huge rainbow, king. In all some amazing accomplishments especially for the foggy coditions and extreme currents!

Four grand slams, 50# big three. High esteem awarded to Herbs Brother...of course I understand they brought in a reel winner, their dad, to pull in TEN rainbows for the entry. Awesome guys :respect

Great tournament. :D
