Was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to catch panfish in or around chicago. I have a bit of a disability and cannot walk too far so that parking is within circa 1/2 block from water edge. It wouldbe nice if there was room to work my flyrod. But i would just be happy to start fishing again!
thanx for any ideas.

Navy pier is about as easy as access gets, although no room for fly rod.

Axehead Lake in Desplaines at River Road & Touhy , just north of Rivers Casino would be worth a try ! If You come in from the Touhy rd entrance and drive around to the second parking lot , there is handicap parking , and close to water ! Who knows you might even catch a left over trout from the spring stocking ! Plenty of spots there to work a fly rod . Have Fun <((((<
P.S. If you catch a trout by accident you will need an inland trout stamp with your fishing license !

You can catch prob 10 different species in Montrose Harbor and parking is very accessible. Fly rod might not work well but theres typically all kinds of panfish to get.

Are you looking to stay within city limits or are any burbs an option? If you don't mind the travel to Elgin, I can point you at a pond that has yet to send me home skunked when it comes to panfish (specifically blue gills and small crappie). It is catch and release only. PM me if you don't mind the drive and let me know. I'll send you addresses and a map with my lucky spots that are pretty close to street parking.
