Looking to get out of town for Labor Day. Million $$ question - Where is the best port for salmon fishing?

WI - Port W, Sheboygan, Kewaunee/Algoma, Sturgeon Bay?
MI - Ludington, Manistee, Frankfort?

Any input would be appreciated.

I can tell you from several captain friends that Sturgeon Bay and Algoma are very, very slow. You can call Anglers Avenue and get info on Sheblygan and Port W.

I have heard that the coho return in Platte Bay near Frankfort is huge and the coho are big this year. The most effective method there is jigging the mouth of the Platte. You could call The Frankfort Tackle Box for a report.

Thanks Steelheadtroller. That helps. Been leaning towards Manistee and bouncing around ports a lil.

Ludington, Manistee and Frankfort as generally the safest Labor day spot on Lake Mi. We have had some amazing weekends there in the past trolling JPlugs. We usually go to Manistee, but any of the 3 are great.
