Monty, Zamboati, and Chicago Runner left Montrose about 2:30 pm heading NE towards Gumbies. There were some pretty tall rollers from previous N-NE winds. We started fishing west of the reef heading east and passed north of it. Immediate fish arches on the sonar 90-110' down. It was a lake trout bonanza. The first one was about 3 lbs and hit a 10c black northport nailer spoon. (Thank you Jerry Pabst) After that, all the lakers were 10-15 lbs, mostly on DRs and and 300 copper but we did land one on a braid dipsy. The big thrill of the evening was a triple, that became a quad, that became a quintuple. Trolling SW from Gumbies, we hit 120' fow and wandered into a huge herd of lake trout. And they all got hungry at the same time. It was nuts and fun and we limited out on lakers quickly. With no other species to be found, we ate a sandwich and motored in while sunset was still 90 mins away. The lake laid down nicely. Great way to end the work week and begin a 3 day weekend.

Nice going Monty! Sounds like a fun in some giant proportions. I wish I had a bigger boat to come and join the party. Maybe next year. Thanks for sharing! Oh wait - no pictures?

What a great example of FUN with Lakers! Although I know you know how to have fun whenever you are fishing, those fish added some stinky spice to your usual fun. Hard to forget a trip with a quint of 10-15 pounders!

Thanks for the report. Good to know the new rig is another fish magnet, but that's most probably a reflection of her Captain :respect!!

Thank you Monty for a blast of a trip, The big guy got hungry in the box

The fishing was great until Monty Asked the Daves if he was seeing something, at first we said probably but then we looked to see this, 10 plus miles from shore 4 paddle boarders chasing a sailboat, the sailboat was winning

Then the fish cleaning commenced from Monty the Butcher
